Deep dive podcast
The actual journal entry
Woke up in the middle of the night feeling achy and with a soar throat.
Got as many of the days tasks done as I could but focusing with the achy body was slow.
Finally got the “Your thoughts are not only yours” post published – explains how brain activity shows our decisions up to six seconds before we become aware of them.
Did some DIY work in the bathroom after replacing some panels. Felt yucky, so I stopped.
Got an email reply from a prospective client about my proposing to use AI to help grow their business. The reply felt as if they thought my proposal was only a software system type of use of AI. A part was but it was also to develop thought processes and strategies from the vast amount of successful strategies and intelligence trained into LLMs and also being able to use R.A.G. (Retrieval Augmented Generation) from preferred or custom strategies and data. I drafted a reply which I’ll tidy up tomorrow and send.
Still feeling yucky so having a hot bath (whilst writing this).
Not going to do much more tonight. Perhaps some focus and awareness training on Fortnite and catch-up on YouTube with what’s happening in personal transformation and healing, and also AI.
Transcript of deep dive
Male
Okay, so today we’re gonna do something kind of different for this deep dive. We’re gonna try to piece together an entire day in someone’s life based on what is their journal entry from that day.
Female
Sounds intriguing. A single journal entry, huh? That’s not a lot to go on, but I guess that’s the challenge.
Male
Exactly. It’s like being a detective, right?
Female
Yeah.
Male
Trying to figure out who this person is and what their life is like just from these little clues they left behind. And you know me, I love a good mystery.
Female
Always up for a challenge. Let’s see what we’ve got.
Male
All right, so the entry starts with them waking up, and, well, they’re not feeling too hot. Achy muscles, sore throat, you know, the whole nine yards.
Female
Hmm. Interesting. Makes you wonder if they’ve been pushing themselves too hard lately or if maybe they’re coming down with something.
Male
Yeah, it’s hard to say from just this one entry. Right. Like, is this a regular thing for them or just a one off? I mean, we all have those days where we wake up feeling less than stellar.
Female
Absolutely. But even from this small detail, we can start to get a sense of their overall well being. You know, are they generally healthy? Do they pay attention to their body’s signals?
Male
Right, right. And speaking of pushing through, even though they weren’t feeling great, this person still managed to get a ton done that day. One thing that really caught my eye, though, was that they mentioned publishing a post titled, get this. Your thoughts are not only yours.
Female
Ooh, that’s a thought provoking title. Makes you wonder what direction they were going with that.
Male
Right? Like, what does that even mean? It sounds kind of deep, almost philosophical. What do you think they could be getting at?
Female
Well, it definitely hints at an interest in psychology or maybe neuroscience. You know, how our thoughts are shaped by so many factors, both internal and external. Our experiences, our beliefs, even our biology.
Male
It reminds me of that whole concept of how our brain activity actually precedes our conscious awareness. I think I read somewhere that there’s, like, a six second delay between when our brain makes a decision and when we actually become aware of it.
Female
Exactly. It’s wild, isn’t it? It really challenges our notions of free will and control. Like, are we really the ones making the decisions, or are our brains calling the shots before we even know it?
Male
Whoa. That’s some deep stuff. But, hey, maybe that’s what this person was writing about in their post, you know, exploring those big questions about the nature of thought and consciousness.
Female
Totally. I’d be curious to read that post. But it’s fascinating how they jump from this deep philosophical topic to something completely different. They mention doing some diy work in the bathroom, like fixing a leaky faucet or something.
Male
Yeah, it’s quite shift, isn’t it, from pondering the mysteries of the mind to tackling practical tasks around the house. But I guess that’s real life, right? A mix of the intellectual and the mundane.
Female
Absolutely. And then it gets even more interesting. They go on to talk about answering a client email about using AI for business growth, like, whoa, what a range. This person is all over the place.
Male
I know, right? Talk about a multitalented individual. They’re clearly comfortable in both the theoretical and the practical realms. But AI for business growth? That sounds pretty cutting edge. What do you think that entails?
Female
Well, it sounds like they’re helping their client to see the potential of AI beyond just automating tasks. They’re talking about leveraging these advanced AI tools, things called LLMs and rag, to generate creative solutions and strategies.
Male
Okay, now you’re losing me a little bit. LLMs. R a G. Those sound like acronyms from some high tech spy movie. Can you break those down for us non techie folks?
Female
Sure, sure. So LLM stands for large language models. Think of them as incredibly powerful AI systems that have been trained on massive amounts of data. They can generate text, translate languages, write different kinds of creative content, all sorts of stuff.
Male
Okay, so basically super smart AI that can write things for you. Got it. What about this rag thing?
Female
Right? Rag stands for retrieval augmented generation. It’s a way to make these LLMs even more powerful by giving them access to specific information so they can give you even more tailored results. It’s like having a research assistant on steroids who can analyze all this information and suggest strategies you might never have thought of on your own.
Male
Whoa, that’s impressive. So it’s not just about automating tasks, it’s about using AI to actually come up with new ideas and strategies. That’s pretty mind blowing.
Female
It is. AI is changing the game in so many ways. But you know, even the most driven, tech savvy individuals need time to unwind. And that’s exactly what our journal writer did. Later in the day. They mentioned taking a hot bath.
Male
Ah yes, the classic relaxation technique. Can’t go wrong with a nice hot bathe. Who doesnt love a good soak after a long day.
Female
Exactly. Its a universal comfort. And then they mentioned doing some focus and awareness training on Fortnite. Now thats not something you hear every day.
Male
Focus and awareness training on Fortnite. That sounds like an interesting combination. I mean, I know video games can be engaging, but focus and awareness training, right?
Female
You dont typically associate those things with video games but it actually makes a lot of sense. Certain games like Fortnite require a high level of focus, decision making, hand eye coordination. They can be a form of cognitive training even if its not intentional.
Male
Hmm, interesting. Its like those brain training apps but way more fun.
Female
Yeah.
Male
So youre saying that playing video games could actually have some hidden benefits for our brains?
Female
Potentially, yes. Its all about how you approach it. If youre mindful of the skills youre using and the challenges youre facing, playing certain games can actually be a form of mental exercise. But then to wrap up their day, they mention catching up on some YouTube content about personal transformation and healing.
Male
Yeah, I noticed that too. It seems like a lot of people are turning to online resources for self improvement and well being these days.
Female
Absolutely. Platforms like YouTube offer a wealth of information on these topics, making it easier than ever for people to find resources that resonate with them. It’s like having a personal library of self help gurus at your fingertips.
Male
It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. So even though we only have this one little snapshot of their day, we get a surprisingly well rounded picture of this person. We see their struggles with their health, their intellectual curiosity, their diverse skills, their drive to succeed, and even their need for relaxation and self care. It’s like we’ve gotten a glimpse into their soul just from this one journal entry.
Female
It really is remarkable how much we can glean from these seemingly small details. It makes you wonder, what would your typical day look like through this kind of lens? What would people learn about you from just one days worth of your thoughts and activities?
Male
Thats a great question to ponder. Its a good reminder that even the most ordinary days can hold extraordinary insights if we take the time to reflect on them. You know, maybe we should all try keeping a journal, even if its just for a day or two. You never know what you might discover about yourself.
Female
I agree. Its a great way to gain a fresh perspective on our lives and uncover hidden patterns in our thoughts and behaviors. And who knows, maybe one day someone will be trying to piece together your story based on the clues you leave behind.
Male
And that’s our deep dive for today. Thanks for joining us on this fascinating journey into the mind of the stranger. Until next time, keep exploring, keep reflecting and keep journaling.
Female
See you next time.
