In his book ‘The Biology Of Belief‘ Dr. Bruce Lipton says:
Just like a single cell, the character of our lives is determined not by our genes but by our responses to the environmental signals that propel life. On the one hand, this new understanding of the nature of life was a jolt. For close to two decades I had been programming biology’s Central Dogma—the belief that life is controlled by genes—into the minds of medical students.
By finally giving the energy-based environment its due, it provided for a grand convergence uniting the science and practice of allopathic medicine, complementary medicine, and the spiritual wisdom of ancient and modern faiths.
I was exhilarated by the new realization that I could change the character of my life by changing my beliefs. I was instantly energized because I realized that there was a science-based path that would take me from my job as a perennial “victim” to my new job as “co-creator” of my destiny.
-Dr. Bruce H. Lipton. The Biology of Belief.
We can often believe that we are helpless when we become unwell. We can then rely purely on various forms of outside help. However, it is just that belief of being helpless and relying fully on external help that can prevent our healing and a transformation of our experience of life.
Through his own scientific research, Dr. Lipton discovered that it is the environment and our perception or beliefs of what is happening in our surroundings, and not directly our genes, that affect our biophysical well-being.
So if we can change our environment and/or our perceptions or beliefs of what is happening around us, we should be able to change our health and well-being.
We can quite easily change our surrounding environment by having a general tidying up in all areas of life (physical, emotional, relationships, etc), but you may be wondering how you can change your perceptions or beliefs of the external environment.
From my own research, I have found that we can have deep subconscious patterns which we are not aware of and which were created from past experiences.
And whether you believe it or not, some beliefs and conditioning seem to come as vibes (vibrations of energy) handed down from past generations.
The point being that, it’s not easy to intellectually identify limiting perceptions or beliefs, and it’s often not easy to change them.
We have to go deeper and use Dr. Lipton’s observation of the biggest surrounding environment that scientists are aware of.
That surrounding or container is called and referred to by scientists as the zero point field, or consciousness.
You can actually access that container, change your perception of physical reality, and then affect the two polarities of undesirable and desirable situations to resolve and dissolve the undesirable and grow the desirable.
